Dr Tony Caccetta is a Specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
He graduated with honours from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2005. Dr Caccetta completed his internship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) in 2006 and was nominated for Intern of the Year. Following this and after successful selection in the highly competitive Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) national dermatology training program in 2009, he completed his specialist training and examinations, to be awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) in 2012.
Dr Caccetta is an experienced and highly skilled procedural dermatologist who has worked at Perth Dermatology Clinic since 2013. He is also a Visiting Dermatologist to Northam Regional Hospital, providing rural dermatology services to the Wheatbelt region over the same period. He is the Medical Director of Perth Dermatology Clinic and currently serves on the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) Expert Advisory Committee (2023-present) and Digital Health Committees (2019-present). He is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia (2024-present) and Supervisor of Training (SOT) for international dermatology trainees undergoing Australasian College of Dermatologist (ACD) approved specialist pathway training (2023-present) at Perth Dermatology Clinic.
Dr Caccetta is a past Western Australian 40 under 40 award recipient (2020) and has served on various boards and committees in the healthcare sector, including as past Chair of the WA Faculty of Dermatology (2018-2020), previous panel member of the Western Australian Kirkbride Melanoma Advisory Service (WAKMAS, 2018-2021) and past National Director of Day Hospitals Australia ( 2018-2021). Dr Caccetta has also previously worked as a Consultant Dermatologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (2013-2018) and facilitated the inaugural ACD Dermoscopy Training Course in Western Australia for General Practitioners (2018).
Dr Caccetta has a special interest in imaging technologies and artificial intelligence for melanoma detection. He provides a high risk melanoma surveillance service at Perth Dermatology Clinic. This technology enabled service enhances routine melanoma surveillance and risk stratification for high risk individuals and their families with total body photography, confocal microscopy and genomic testing where appropriate. This service is complemented by an urgent lesion/surgery clinic for suspected melanoma and/or other skin malignancies, with surgery performed on-site at Perth Dermatology Clinic’s licensed and accredited day procedure facility. Dr Caccetta also provides a cutaneous toxicity clinic for patients undergoing oncology treatments complicated by skin issues.
He is also an expert in hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), psoriasis and atopic dermatitis management. He offers botulinum toxin injections, iontophoresis and oral anticholinergic medications for the management of hyperhidrosis. He offers phototherapy and biologic treatments for the management of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
